Single women used to be on the lookout for guys out there to give them something to fill their needs. They wanted to feel loved, have someone to provide security, strength and support. And they dreaded the thought of being labeled a spinster or an old maid.
Now, many women and men choose to live unmarried, independent and without companions and still feel comfortable with the single life. With the increase in divorce rate more are living alone. And many widows and widowers choose to remain single. They have found that being single has its advantages and benefits compared to being coupled.
These singles still date and have occasional flings but they aren't in a hurry to get tied down. They are taking their time and most of them feel that if it happens that they don’t get married by a certain age, so be it.
